Hello! I'm Lisa Jones, the Owner of SWM
My Bio
Educator, Caregiver, ASL Interpreter, and Digital Creator
With two master’s degrees—one in Adult & Community Education and another in Executive Development for Public Service from Ball State University—along with a bachelor’s degree concentrating in Psychology and a minor in Health Psychology, I have dedicated my life to learning, teaching, and helping others. My journey has been shaped by both professional expertise and deeply personal experiences.
For the past 17 years, I have worked as a professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, bridging communication gaps and advocating for accessibility in various settings. My passion for education and community service has extended beyond interpretation, leading me to create digital content that empowers others—especially seniors and caregivers—with valuable resources and opportunities.
In 2020, I moved to Florida to care for my mother, who bravely battled dementia, Alzheimer's, and skin cancer while undergoing immunotherapy. The side effects, combined with recurrent UTIs, took a toll on her health, ultimately impacting her heart. Through hospital stays and caregiving challenges, I learned firsthand the emotional and physical demands of being a family caregiver. That experience continues to fuel my passion for senior wellness, caregiving education, and empowering others with the knowledge they need.
After my mother’s passing, I stayed in Florida to keep an eye on my father and bonus-mother, who continue to thrive. My father, a Public Works Director turned freelancer for the federal government, finally retired at age 80, while my bonus-mother serves as the music director for their church. Though I no longer live in Florida, I keep in close contact with them, ensuring they have the support they need.
Now, I’ve relocated to the Midwest for one of life’s greatest blessings—watching my first grandchild grow. As a proud mother of three grown sons, a daughter-in-law (finally got a girl 😅), and now a grandson, family remains at the center of everything I do.
Balancing family, caregiving, and my career as a digital content creator, I focus on helping seniors, caregivers, and those looking for work-from-home opportunities through my ebooks, resources, and online content. Life has shown me the importance of preparation, resilience, and community, and I strive to share that knowledge with others. Whether it’s through education, caregiving insights, digital entrepreneurship, or accessibility advocacy, my mission is to equip and empower others—especially seniors—to live fulfilling, independent lives. I'm currently working on constructing an ASL course for beginner's. Keep an eye out 🤟🏼!
